On what was looking like a celebratory night at Citizens Bank Park turned to possible disaster for the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday night as two of the Phillies best hitters went down with injuries.
After being named as a starter to the 2024 MLB All-Star Game earlier, Phillies first baseman Bryce Harper came up lame after grounding out to first base in the ninth inning. As he approached the bag, Harper grabbed for his left hamstring before limping off.
Harper told reporters after the game that he wasn't sure how bad the injury was but that "I've never felt anything like this before."
The injury comes after Harper received his 8th All-Star game nob. He's hitting .303 with 20 home runs, 52 runs and 58 RBI following Thursday's game.
Unfortunately, Phillies fans will have to wait for updates on Harper. The team said after Thursday's game that Harper is expected to go for an MRI on Friday.

Kyle Schwarber injury
As if potentially losing Harper wasn't enough, slugger Kyle Schwarber also went down with an injury. He experienced left groin tightness after making a throw from left field in the top of the eighth.
After the game, Schwarber told reporter that he didn't feel like the injury was serious.
"We'll come in tomorrow and see how it feels," Schwarber said.
On the season, the leadoff hitter is batting .250 with 17 home runs, 60 runs and 49 RBI.
